Mission Coffee Ministry

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled." - Matthew 5:6

At The Shepherd’s Café, we take the Catholic meaning of “universal” seriously.  We’re holistically Catholic; Catholic artists, Catholic teachings, Catholic culture in the Metroplex.  But why stop there?

Mission Coffee Ministry is a sub-mission of The Shepherd’s Café that helps impoverished coffee farmers from Third World countries (so far Honduras and Nicaragua).  Part of the money you donated to Mission Coffee Ministry goes directly to the farmers to help them with food, water and basic needs – you know, those corporal works of mercy.

Our Beginning
Shepherd’s Café Founder Yong Oh first got the idea for the link during a Honduras mission trip in 2007.  She learned that there was only one local diocesan parish priest who also travels, sometimes by foot, to minister to the 52 mountain villages in that area.  Some villages only celebrate Mass once a year.

Yong met several coffee farmers who sold their coffee beans at market for practically nothing, yet it was their only means of survival for food and basic needs.  After witnessing these mountain village farmers living without electricity or running water, Yong decided that help would come from The Shepherd’s Café in the form of Mission Coffee Ministry.

Through your generosity, you allow us to continue our commitment to the many families changed by your donation and your prayers.

Thank you and God bless!
