Study Program at Holy Family Catholic Church:
Vision: Provide young people of limited economic resources a place where they can join the learning center and a favorable environment that provides training in the human and spiritual moral guidelines that will then generate (create) a real future for their lives.

Mission: Help young people with limited economic resources accomplish a greater level of education through the formation of their intellect both human and spiritual and that will help them incorporate into society as agents of change.

Fr. Max’s Study Program:
Fr.  Maximiliano Chavarria currently provides education and faith formation for 21 young people from the poor mountain villages who would normally not have the opportunity or would have a very difficult time financially attending school.  Father has been operating the study program since 2008, and it is growing and bearing much fruit—2 entered the seminary and 2 entered the convent—and several have graduated with a degree and obtained a much needed job to help their families. He is always seeking sponsors to help these youth.

He wishes the number of kids he could help were more, but it is all he can afford. That’s where you come in.

What does it mean to be a sponsor?
Through the Sponsorship Program, we connect someone here with a child in Honduras. That sponsor truly helps the child get an education and makes a huge difference in their life. The youth keep in touch with their sponsors through letters, prayers and sending their report cards to their sponsor to show them how they are doing in Fr. Max’s Study Program.

How much money would it take for me to be a Sponsor?
It costs $35 a month for the youth to attend school (tuition, books, school supplies, uniform).  We are seeking sponsors to help these youth.  One person can sponsor a youth each month for a year or 2 or more people can sponsor a youth for a year totalling $35 a month.

How is this different than the money I’ve donated/I’m thinking about donating to Mission Coffee Ministry?
The $35 goes directly to that child's specific Study Program every month. The $15 or more donation to Mission Coffee Ministry goes toward helping Fr. Max's parish expense, housing expenses for the girl's house and boy's house that the youth live in while studying, food for students in the Study Program, and some of the farming expense.  Also, some of the coffee beans come from Delegates (coffee farmers) from Fr. Max's aldeas so portion of the money goes directly to them to financially support their family.

If you think this is something you could bear, please contact Yong Oh at info@theshepherdscafe.com for more information on how to become a sponsor - it is a tax-deductible donation (click on the names to read their bios).  Thank you in advance for your consideration.  May God bless you abundantly for your generous heart!
